The famous San Remo Hotel and Casino is now known as the Hooters Casino Hotel, a casino with women and food that men can drool over.

When I first heard of this I thought that it would be worth the trip the Vegas to check out this new travel destination. The hotel has 700 guest rooms, nine restaurants and bars and of course a Hooters restaurant. The Hooter Girls are given bright orange trucks to drive around the property as well.

Hooter girls have added new skills to their resume by taking on new jobs, they are now card dealers as well as sexy servers. The resort employs 250 Hooters Girls with various jobs. They are planning on bringing in a lot entertainers into the casino to entertain their growing amount of visitors. By looking through the information on the Hooters Hotel I can see that you’d better be able to party if want to spend some time in this Las Vegas hotspot. Parties in the bars and at the pool side will probably keep you busy, not to mention the fact that the place is surrounded by famously beautiful Hooters Girls.

There is a Dan Marino’s on the property, which is open 24 hours a day with a buffet happening at all times. It’s one of the more popular places to eat in the area.

For a casino in the heart of Las Vegas the prices to stay at Hooters Casino Hotel are geared for the blue-collar American. You can get a room in the hotel for around $100 and the restaurants have the same prices as the others in the chain. So not only is the Hooters Casino Hotel full of hot women, it’s also cheap.

The New Hold'em

I thought that it would be interesting to come up with a new kind of poker. Texas Hold’em is great and everything, but it would not hurt to mix things up a little bit and try something new.

The first thing would be the addition of a wild card in a poker game. I know a lot of traditionalists may not like this idea, but imagine how interesting it would make the new game. You could use jokers maybe, if someone had a joker in their pocket cards they can change that card to whatever they wanted to make the best possible hand. Now that would throw someone’s game off.

This is not an entirely new idea, but I would allow people to ask their opponent what cards they had after the hand was done. They would only a have set amount of times that they could ask, but again this could make the game a lot more interesting.

How about this for an idea? During each hand one player is given one extra card. I mean it is possible for a player to have one extra and still not have the nut hand, just really unlikely. Here’s another element, if someone wins a hand against someone with an extra card in their hand, they get double the chips from their opponent.

So when it’s poker night next try out these modifications to the game of Texas Hold’em and see how they work out. You never know you may actually win for a change.

I Love Playing Aces

Poker is a game that is played by a lot of people from all over the world. Since there are so many people playing the game today there are a lot of different strategies out there on how to win the game.

I was playing in a tournament last night and I made it to the final table with a decent amount of chips. There was someone sitting beside me at the table who did not have too many chips left in his stack. He was fairly quiet during much of the game and he went all-in before the flop. I had an ace and a two and I thought I would give it a try. I have this thing with aces, I can’t seem to fold them. My hand wasn’t that bad, but he had a jack and queen suited.

I admit that I had the lesser of the two hands, but I think it was a good call, I had an ace and I could have got a low straight. It did work out for me, the board showed an ace and two early, giving me two pair and the pot.

The person I was playing against was not a fan that I called an all-in bet with my hand. Like I said, I have a hard time folding aces and I had no idea what he had in his hand.

Looking back on it I think the game ended for me not too much later than that victory. Ironically enough I made an all-in bet with queen, jack in my hand pre-flop. It did not work out very well for me when two people with better hands called me.

James Woods on ER

I am a huge poker fan and I am a huge fan of celebrity poker player James Woods. It’s been a long time since I've watched ER and I saw it last night because James was on it.

For those of you who did not see it, I have to say, you really missed out. In the show James’ character was in the advanced stages of ALS, aka Lou Gehrig`s Disease. Let me tell you, I don’t know anyone with this disease, but I feel like I do now, just learned a lot about it from watching an hour-long television show.

James was awesome in this role, he really most have done his homework because his character seemed real and made you really feel for him and his wife.

It’s rare when you get to watch something like this on television. The type of program that leaves you thinking way after you turn the channel.

From watching this I can see why James Woods is known for his poker skills. Any man that can act like that would be a deadly weapon at a poker table, I would really have no idea whether or not he was bluffing or not.

I’m sure that last night’s episode will appear on reruns over the next couple months. So if you missed and get a chance to check it out again you really should. From what I have seen of ER it seems like a fairly good show on it’s own, but night’s episode was something different.

Anyways, happy Super Bowl weekend!

The World of Freerolls

A good way to learn how to play poker online is to… well play poker online. Every poker site has play money that you can use to play against people from around the world

The best way to pick up online poker is to play <A HREF="http://www.hollywoodhomegame.com/freeroll.html"TARGET="_blank">freeroll tournaments. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, a freeroll event is a huge online poker tournament where people use play money to play in the event. There is usually a cash prize that winners receive at the end, usually the cash prizes are kind of small, but there are some bigger ones, besides it’s free.

There are a lot of advantages to participating in these type of tournaments if you’re a beginner, you get the excitement of a large poker tournament without the financial investment.

Some sites require you to have played a certain amount of hands on their site before you enter a freeroll and some may ask that you have a specified amount of play money on your account.

<A HREF="http://www.hollywoodhomegame.com/freeroll.html"TARGET="_blank">Hollywood Home Game added a new section, it lists all of the freeroll tournaments happening during the day. This is a good way to find out what freerolls are happening and information about them including the prize amounts, start times, registration times and requirements,

It doesn’t matter if you’re an on-the-verge poker professional, or if your just starting to take an interest in the poker, a freeroll is a great way to spend a night.

The Irony of Poker

I hate having good cards, at least if you have bad cards you know what you are dealing with and can play or not play accordingly. When you have good cards you get tunnel vision and start to think that there is nothing or no one who can stop you.

Last night I was playing poker and I was doing fairly well. My luck seemed to be going fairly well when I won an all-in match up against someone with my pocket kings against their pocket jacks, but it would not take long before irony to kick in.

The next few hands were decent hands and I played them until the flop revealed that my okay cards were actually junk. Then I got a great hand, pocket jacks and I started to bet hard on them.

I was surprised by how effortlessly my opponent was calling my betting and I finally went all-in and was immediately called. I laid down my pocket jacks and then saw his cards, you guessed it, pocket aces.

Nothing even resembling a jack came out on the table, in fact I believe there was an ace that came out. I know there is a certain amount of irony that comes out in a game of poker and all you can do sometimes is hope that it comes for your favor and not your opponents.

Like I was saying before, I think I would be much more successful if I kept getting marginal hands, the type of hand that really makes you question your ability to win the pot and will make you bid accordingly. Poker would be so easier if you could all the table cards ahead of time.

The Sport of Poker

With activities like fishing and bowling being classified as sports, many including myself would consider poker to be worthy of the title of sport.

I know there are few poker-related injuries and there is no televised draft for poker, but it is just as competitive and can take just as much training as baseball or football. With the money and fame that poker now involves a good player can earn as much or more as some pro athletes and some poker events are getting higher ratings than many traditional sporting events. It’s kind of hard to make sports picks with poker, but I kind of like the irony of betting of poker.

Poker is now a big part of any sports show and probably gets more coverage than sports like hockey and tennis.

Poker has an element of skill and chance and a good player seems to be able to persuade Lady Luck to work in their favor, despite a bad draw. People like Phil Ivey are regarded in the same light as athletes like Alex Rodriguez and Tom Brady in some circles. There are no trades, injuries, or drug testing to take away from the game.

When I was a kid I always wanted to be a professional baseball star and I think I would have if I could have got over the obstacle of having absolutely no skill at the game whatsoever. Poker is a different story, with enough practice and the guts to play the big events anyone could potentially reach the top levels of the poker elite.

The internet is one of the reasons why popular is so popular right now. If poker is a professional sport than I think it would be fair to say that online poker would be comparable to the minor league system in other sports. The difference is that literally anyone can play and eventually make it to the big leagues.

Anyways, I am sure that there are a lot of people who think that I am wrong about poker being a sport. Regardless of what your opinion is, poker is a game that will be around for awhile.

Checking Your Way To The Win

The most beautiful thing in the game of poker is the check, when used wisely it can be as deadly as a full house.

Too many people only check when they have nothing in their hands and they really don’t use poker’s best feature to their advantage. Any good poker player can tell early on if you are one of these players and they will quickly raise you after you knock on the table.

When you have a good hand sometimes it is best to stand back and let your opponent make the first move, let them think that the ball is in their court and let them dribble to the basket. Eventually they will become extremely invested in the pot without realizing it and you can make a lot of money if you have the nuts.

On the other hand checking is a good way to see cards for free or cheap. I have won a lot of hands by seeing the river card for free and having a straight turn up on the table. Usually these pots are easy to bluff, no one will probably have anything better than a medium pair and a bluff will probably make them fold. You won’t win a big pot, but it will add up, plus you’re setting the tone at the table.

The only bad thing about checking in poker is when your opponent knows how to do it better than you and makes you the sucker.

Weekend at the cabin

I went up to a friend's cabin this weekend and just had some relax time. It was snowy, cold, and remote -- but I got to come home smelling of campfire smoke and without a care. I love those little outings where you don't have any technology or responsability, other than to keep pouring the logs on the stove and make sure you've got something to drink. We even got to see a moose, which trotted out to the edge of our frozen lake and then, after ten or fifteen seconds, disappeared again. Now I'm back to civilization and it's time to fire up the blog again.

WPT for the X-Box

I bought an X-box last Christmas and haven't used it much -- until now. World Poker Tour is an excellent game. The story mode is good, the commentary is a little simplistic, but it's accurate and subtle enough that it doesn't get annoying. There's the inclusion of some of the biggest names in poker, as well... which help to keep things interesting. My main problem with poker games is usually the AI level - the intelligence of the computer players. That's why I love playing online poker (Hollywood Poker is still my favourite online poker room). In WPT you can be bluffed out and but it's not ridiculous to the point of being unrealistic. For $20, this was a good buy. It won't replace my seat at the Hollywood tables... but it's a nice diversion when the net goes down.

Dan Rather talking about Poker on CBS

Dan Rather gets some pointers from some of the biggest stars of the poker circuit on CBS the other night. Find out how these top players read and deceive their opponents. "It's all about deception," says Galloway, who calls herself a grinder. She's not looking for the big kill; she's looking for a steady income. Her office is the casino. Her goal? To make $5,000 a night. And her strategy? Whatever works. "It's all about lying," says Galloway. "I mean, poker is a game of lies.

"What separates the men from the boys on this battlefield is knowing your enemy. "That guy that has the Gulf ball cap on? I can tell he is new by the way he handles his chips, the way he bets his chips, the amount of money he pushes into a small pot," says Galloway, who's sizing up the players. "The guy in the blue shirt, when he has a hand, he immediately puts his glasses on. It is a sign of weakness. It tells me that he is afraid that something he does is going to give his hand away.

"Galloway read Rather like a dime-store novel. "Show me how you would look at your cards," says Galloway to Rather. She says this is one way for her to spot a beginner at the game. "Well, I tend to look at mine this way," says Rather. "OK. OK, now, the guy sitting next to you, he just saw your cards. Believe it or not," says Galloway, laughing. "He just saw your cards.""Isn't that cheating?" asks Rather. "Well, that’s the part of cheating. It’s like if you’re gonna show me your cards. It’s your responsibility to protect your cards," says Galloway. "So, you want to take the cards and put them out in front of your chips. And you want to cover and be very careful and just look at the corners -- just the corners of the cards. Now, nobody can see your cards.

"When you watch one of those big time, big money poker tournaments on TV, Galloway is likely to be there -- but not up on stage. Instead, she plays at tables out on the periphery, trying to take money from guys who've just lost. "They’re mad and they've got to try to get even," says Galloway. "I just wait there for them to come in. I’m so bad. I am so bad.

"She's bad … and good. On this night's take, she wins almost $5,000. At the center table, under the TV lights, the stakes are higher. Here, winners are transformed from backroom card sharks into big-time celebrities. "Daniel Negreanu", a high school dropout, became the 2004 Poker Player of the Year after winning nearly $4.5 million. "If I come to a table where I'm sitting with eight people that I've never seen before, I think within 15 to 20 minutes, I can have a rough idea how they play poker, based on what they're wearing, based on things they say," says Negreanu. "Jennifer Harman" is one of the few female super stars. Harman went to college to become a doctor until she figured gambling was more lucrative. She has won more than a million dollars at tournaments, plus millions more in casino poker rooms. Does she study the cards, or the people?

"I study the people," says Harman. "Poker is very psychological. You try to get into people's heads. Try to figure out what they're thinking. Try to figure out what they're thinking about you. It’s a very complex game.

Chris Ferguson, better known as "Jesus" is one of the brainiest players. He has a Ph.D. in computer science, but dropped studying technical books for analyzing poker players. "If someone's bluffing, they might throw their chips in very slowly. Whereas, if they have a monster hand, they might naturally go something like this [noise]," says Ferguson. "You might interpret this like, 'Oh, the guy shrugs his shoulders. Oh, he’s weak. No, but that’s actually a sign of strength. And people wouldn’t even be aware that they are doing that." "That’s where poker really gets interesting," adds Negreanu. "When you get to the level of like level one, like what do I have? Level two, what does he have? Level three, like what does he think I have? And then, what does he think I think he thinks I have? There’s so much cat and mouse psychology."

Matt Damon, Hollywood Actor

He might be a big-time movie star, but the truth is, Matt Damon is a regular guy. The fresh-faced Oscar winner (for co-writing 1997's "Good Will Hunting" with long time friend Ben Affleck), star of the Jason Bourne series ("The Bourne Identity" and "The Bourne Supremacy"), poker film Rounders, and more than 30 other films. Oddly enough Matt Damon does not own a cell phone, he dislikes flying and prefers to drive his mother back home to Boston when she visits him in New York.

Damon is sticking to the metaphorical fast lane, starring in the planned July release "The Brothers Grimm" and the planned September release "Syriana" executive producing a third season of "Project Greenlight" (now on Bravo, same network that hosts Celebrity Poker Showdown) and executive producing the upcoming thriller "Feast."

The Bourne Supremacy star Matt Damon feels "bad" for his pal Brad Pitt, with all of the increased attention he's faced since the meltdown of his marriage to Jennifer Aniston.

Matt Damon, who co-starred with Pitt in Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Twelve, saw the same attention directed at his longtime friend Ben Affleck during his doomed romance with Jennifer Lopez, and he's admits it's a position he' d hate to be in.

He says: "It's got to be tough. Most actors can lead a quiet life if they decide to. I do. But Brad is one of those actors you get once every generation who is born to be a star. He's as nice and as regular a guy as there is, but attention follows him everywhere."

Pitt and Aniston announced their separation in January.

James Woods and Vince van Patten on Hollywood Holdem

Third Episode – James Woods
This week on Hollywood Hold'em are my favorite celebrity poker players James Woods and Vince van Patten. They are playing texas hold'em with comedian Norm MacDonald and The O.C.'s Nicholas Gonzalez. This game should be much more exciting then the last two Hollywood Hold’em poker episodes. The main reason: James Woods and Vince van Patten are GREAT poker players and will provide us with entertaining conversation, and well played poker. Future home game hosts and guests include Sara Rue from "Less Than Perfect" and Shannon Elizabeth.
Recap on past Hollywood Hold’em episode
The first episode included Laura Prepon, Chris Masterson, her boyfriend and Danny Masterson, That '70s Show costar. In the end Danny Masterson won the game! But the exciting part of the game was when Laura Prepon’s flush was beat bad by one of her friends Royal Flush!! Once that happened all the celebrities and Phil Laak went crazy with excitement!!

Here is some more information on Hollywood Holdem.

Hollywood Poker Night is now Hollywood Holdem

Hey everyone, I guess E! Entertainment has changed the name of Hollywood Poker Night to Hollywood Holdem. The first episode was on March 21, but it gets re-aired throughout the week. New episodes of Hollywood Holdem are on Thursdays 10pm Eastern Time I believe.
Dealer: Poker Ace and Host Phil Laak - The Unabomber

Phil "the Unabomber" Laak is one of the World Poker Tour's breakout stars, not a cabin-dwelling serial killer. Don't let Phil's nickname and flair for hoodies and shades fool you, Phil is a great poker player; one of the best. Phil Laak is now slinging cards, wisdom and brutal fun as the host and dealer for E! Hollywood Hold 'Em.

This isn't your average star-studded poker show, such as Celebrity Poker Showdown. In E! Any ideas my fellow poker players??

Well I had better leave for work or else I may have to be doing this for a living!!

Hollywood Poker Night

I guess there is a new celebrity poker series starting up in March on the Entertainment network called Hollywood Poker Night. I really enjoy "Hollywood Home Game", "Celebrity Poker Showdown" and "World Poker Tour" - poker stars and celebrity poker players are exciting to watch.

Now, this show does say that it's more than just about the poker game celebrities play. We will even get tours of their respective homes and some insight into the celebrities themselves. I hope they have one on Jennie Garth :p. So, it seems like, it is a poker related "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". The fact that poker is so popular right now is really boosting this program up and is teasing my love of celebrities and my love of poker. Hollywood Poker Night should be interesting. I hope Hollywood Poker Night will have the stars poker home games so we can see how plays where and how much money is involved in the poker games!!

Other Information regarding Hollywood Poker Night:

This March, E! is planning to launch Hollywood Poker Night, a weekly hour-long series that promises to deliver a new spin on the celebrity poker genre.

Ted Harbert, the president and CEO of E! Networks, noted, "The series offers the fun and challenge of cards, but will also gives viewers a unique glimpse into the lives and homes of some of today's top young stars."

Held each week in a different celebrity's home, each game will feature three stars and each of their best friends. Those set to participate include Macaulay Culkin, Andy Dick, The Italian Job's Set Green, That '70s Show's Danny Masterson and Wilmer Valderrama, and Tony Hawk, among others.

Celebrity Poker Showdown

Watch the Celebrity Poker Showdown Challenge in Bravo every Tuesday night, plus watch it when it is in reruns every night! Celebrities battle it out at the poker table each week for a shot at over $250,000 in the finals. They play No Limit Texas Holdem poker and it seems like they have no idea how to play poker at all. If you would like to learn how to play No Limit Texas Holdem and play like those on Celebrity Poker, I suggest you start by playing free at Hollywood Poker.

ESPN was the first network to gamble on the high-stakes card game as a ratings winner, and its success with viewers has sparked a whole new genre of poker programming.

–You never can predict when the trend begins,— says Jeff Gaspin, president of NBC-owned Bravo Network, which is enjoying a monster hit with its –Celebrity Poker Showdown.— –When a trend begins, it starts to pick up momentum. If it‑s got any legs, it will just continue, and I think this one does. –Bravo‑s –Celebrity Poker Showdown— debuted to more than a million and a half viewers, making it the network‑s second most successful premier ever, following just short of the runaway hit –Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.—

The Travel Channel is also cashing in on the poker trend. The World Poker Tour has become the most popular series in the history of the network.

Two example games from Celebrity Showdown: (Game one: Ben Affleck, Don Cheadle, Willie Garson, Emily Proctor, David Schwimmer; Game Two, special "West Wing" episode: Timothy Busfield, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, Martin Sheen, John Spencer). And while they weren't full-on train wrecks, they did offer more than their fair share of cringe-worthy moments. Kevin Pollak's impressions, for one (and for two, and three): the Christopher Walken opener was bad enough, just ... huh?, but when he lurched into his William Shatner bit, the expression on co-host Phil Gordon's face -- a frozen "how did I get here?" half-smile -- said it all. Willie Garson skipping around the table in the middle of a hand to whisper into a reluctant Don Cheadle's ear was pretty bad, too. Richard Schiff's "zany" hat and glasses and glasses and glasses disguise just made me feel tired. The two women players were both reduced to caricatures of "what's a poor girl to do?" girls: Allison Janney's crumpling und!
er pressure to "show strength" on an undeserving hand did anything but, and Emily Proctor flapping her hands and saying "I can't do math" in a small, pouty voice was especially grim. And then there was all the awkward silences and leaden joking you'd expect from a group of actors without a script to follow.

Hollywood Celebrity Poker Showdown

Celebrity Poker Showdown

This weeks Celebrity Poker Showdown was awesome! It included Heather Graham, Jesse Metcalfe, Andrea Parker, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and Fred Willard. On one hand Jesse, Andrea and Malcolm were in $500 before the flop. Then the flop gives Jesse a set of tens and Andrea nothing, but Andrea attempts a bluff by betting $1000 — Malcolm folds ands Jesse quickly calls. Jesse warns Andrea not to do "anything stupid," but Andrea continues the rouse by betting $5000. Jesse goes all-in. After much deliberation, Andrea calls. When a three comes on the turn, nothing can come on the river that will save her. I wish she didn't call, I thought she might have won it with her poker skills and poker beauty!

Malcolm comes into this with nearly 80% of the chips on the table. Lady luck still favors Malcom as he gets a king-ace suited. Heather raises, Malcolm re-raises and Fred calls before the flop. Heather folds. The flop gives both Fred and Malcolm two pair, but Malcolm's dominates. Fred, assuming his two pair dominates, goes all-in. When the cards are revealed Fred knows only a six on the turn or river can save him. Unfortunately for Fred, the turn helps no one and an ace on the river only makes Malcolm's hand stronger. Fred joins the others for a cocktail in the Losers' Lounge.

This game was so strange. It was better then the other week which included Jason Alexander, Nick Gonzalez, Allison Janney, Chris Kattan and Mary McCormack. At that poker game. Chris is not the best player that CPS has seen. However, good cards and good luck has kept him in longer than anyone might have expected after seeing the first few hands. True to form, Chris bets after the flop even though he has no pair and no draw. Mary – who flopped two pair – raises. Hoping to bluff, Chris goes all-in and is promply greeted by Phil with a copy of his poker tip pamphlet. But it is too late for tips – Mary calls. When the turn brings a spade things look hopeful for Chris, but when the river gives him nothing it's off to the Loser's Lounge.

But in the end Malcolm-Jamal Warner beat Heather Graham. Heather has the best hand before the flop, she raises to $1600. The flop turns Malcolm's poor hand into a pair of fours — the turn gives him two pair. Heather, having nothing, tries a stone-cold bluff by going all-in before the river. With a massive chiplead, Malcolm is not scared off and he calls. Only a king or eight on the river can save Heather, but an ace is what the dealer delivers. Malcom receives the silver chip and a chair in the Championship Game.

Well I think I am going to read some poker news about the World Poker Tour!

Hollywood Home Game

Hello,

I am Tom Pipkins and this is my Hollywood Home Game Poker Blog. I have created this blog so I can let everyone out there know about my two favorite interests; online poker and hollywood celebrities. And this blog will help me combine these interests and I can write about hollywood celebrities playing online poker.

I've been hooked on poker ever since I was 10-years old and my father used to let me play poker with him and his friends on Friday nights. Well, now I'm hooked on online poker! I discuss some information about online poker at my Hollywood Home Game website. My site has a Poker Help section with poker hands, texas holdem rules, and poker tips and poker tricks. There is also some poker information about betting structures, how to bet in texas holdem , how to bluff, poker odds, poker playing styles, information of buttons and blinds and other poker news. Also on Hollywood Home Game there is a Host Your Own Poker Night section. Most importantly, my site describes the patron saints of Hollywood Poker; James Woods and Vince van Patten. Actually, even more important is my section about Famous Hollywood Celebrity Poker Players including Mekhi Phifer, Shannon Elizabeth, David Cross, Danny Masterson, Ben Affleck and many more.

I'm a huge movie and film nut to begin with - I actually like movies more than poker! I am a celebrity freak and love to keep up with famous hollywood celebrity gossip. But what I enjoy even more than gossip aboutfamous hollywood celebrities, is to play online poker against some famous hollywood celebrities and take some of their money!!! Celebrities I have played against include James Woods, Vince van Patten, Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire, Michael Kane and Ricki Lake. I hope I get the chance to play against some more famous hollywood celebrities.
